This series comprises records retained by the office of the Secretary for South Asia, South Pacific, and Madagascar of The American Lutheran Church's (TALC) Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation (DWMIC). They are from 1972-1983 and comprise primarily handwritten and typewritten business correspondence and one folder of printed topical reports, articles, and newsletters with subjects relating to Bangladesh. Subject matter in this series pertains to the limited involvement TALC had in mission work in Bangladesh. One folder that may prove useful contains correspondence with the World Mission Prayer League (WMPL). This correspondence includes documents outlining TALC's relationship with the WMPL as it pertained to work in Bangladesh. Records are arranged alphabetically.

The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Representatives from each of the constitutent churches formed the Joint Union Committee in 1950 to effect the merger. Presidents of the constituent bodies at the merger were Henry F.
